OIL & GAS TRACKERS

The oil and gas trackers provide information on existing and proposed oil and gas pipelines, LNG terminals, gas plants and oil and gas sites of extraction. The tracker uses a two-level system for organizing information. Summary information including location, status, owner, and size is found on the maps and table. For further detail, each unit shown in the map or the table is linked to a wiki page on GEM.wiki

Oil and Gas Trackers

Global Gas Infrastructure Tracker

The Global Gas Infrastructure Tracker (GGIT) includes all global LNG import terminals and export terminals and global gas transmission pipelines over predetermined size thresholds.

Global Gas Plant Tracker

The Global Gas Plant Tracker (GGPT) is a worldwide dataset of gas-fired power plants. It includes units with capacities of 50 megawatts (MW) or more (20 MW or more in the European Union and the United Kingdom). The GGPT catalogs every operating or under-construction gas-fired generating unit, every new unit proposed since 2020, and every unit retired or mothballed since 2020.

Global Oil Infrastructure Tracker

The Global Fossil Infrastructure Tracker (GFIT) includes all global LNG import terminals and export terminals, and all global oil and gas transmission pipelines over a predetermined size threshold.

Global Oil and Gas Extraction Tracker

The Global Oil and Gas Extraction Tracker (GOGET) is a global dataset of oil and gas resources and their development. GOGET includes information on discovered, in-development, and operating oil and gas units worldwide, including both conventional and unconventional assets. The dataset tracks the status, ownership, production, and reserves of each unit, as data is available.

Europe Gas Tracker

The Europe Gas Tracker provides a comprehensive dataset of fossil gas infrastructure across the European Union, with some components covered in non-EU countries as well. The Tracker covers gas pipelines, LNG terminals, gas-fired power plants, and gas extraction sites.

Portal Energético

The Latin America Energy Portal provides a region-wide snapshot of energy infrastructure in Latin America and the Caribbean: oil and gas pipelines, oil and gas extraction sites, coal- and gas-fired power plants, LNG terminals, steel plants, coal mines, and more.

Each project on the map is linked to a wiki page that provides details about the project’s history, status, capacity, and ownership, along with background info such as environmental, health, safety, and human rights impacts.
